Hi Stackers!
We just posted a new update to our Seed & Spark crowdfunding campaign for the Emergency Contact short film - a video introducing myself and Director/Producer Nancy Cristina.
We talk about our reconnect-cute (see what I did there?) while driving to set together, when we realized we would make a great filmmaking team, as well as the 2020 mini-episode series we filmed entirely while all of the cast and crew were in lockdown in separate home and cities, across the country (Love in Quarantine).
We’re coming up on our week anniversary of launching the crowdfunding campaign and I’ve had to be on what feels like *every* social media platform multiple times a day every day. I don’t love it - but I don’t want to let the team down.
The team includes myself and Nancy, our marketing director Joseph, the actors and crew we’re hoping to hire, as well as the characters - Kim and Eliza - themselves. I love these characters and everyone who reads the script connects with them and the story, which has been absolutely lovely.
The plus side of being this active on social media is reconnecting with my communities, people I’ve been connected to for 5, 10 and in some cases, 20+ years. For example, Ronlyn Domingue, an author who “writes about deep, sensitive people in strange, transformative circumstances.” If you haven’t read her books (The Mercy of Thin Air and The Keeper of Tales trilogy) or her Crone Energy Substack yet, I highly recommend them. I’ve referred several friends to Ronlyn for her editing services over the years - and I’ve been learning from her literally for 20 years now. We got to reconnect this week, which was truly wonderful.
We need to build a big audience for the film - that’s just as important as the money, though we do need money to make the film, since we want to pay our cast and crew something for their time and talent.
If you're able to pledge a donation in any amount, you'll get a link to stream the finished film and other incentives at different levels. Even if you can't donate, you can help us by following our project (it's free!) and sharing it with your networks. Funded campaigns that reach 250, 500 and 1k followers unlock festival waivers and other rewards that will help Emergency Contact succeed.
