This photo is from the moment on Survivor that has made me the most emotional - ever and it made me really care about Eva and Joe, the linchpins (kingpins) of the “Strong People” alliance on Season 48. While I really adore what I’ve seen of these people (I slip up a few times in the recording and call them “characters,” because I know them from a tv show), I have a lot of feelings about the way they talk about strength and weakness. Though, as I reflect on in the recording, they talk about weakness and strength in a similar way to our culture as a whole, so my qualms aren’t just with them, or Survivor, but with the way we as a culture talk and think about strength and weakness.
I recorded this last Thursday, the first day of Jazz Fest, right after watching episode 9. I’m going to record a follow up now that I’ve watched episode 10.
Really looking for my “talk about Survivor” tribe. Are you one of my people? :)
